2.3L engine cylinder block features

The engine is built around a high-pressure die-cast open aluminum cylinder block. Although the cylinder diameter and size are the same as the 2.0L EcoBoost, the 2.3L engine block features expanded oil and cooling channels and a structural ladder with an integrated main bearing cover (reinforced ribs around the cylinder moulded). The increased displacement was achieved by applying a new forged 4340 steel crankshaft with a 94 mm stroke. The engine also uses forged steel links (they are shorter than 2.0L links) and lightweight high-strength pistons with steel piston ring brackets and full floating pins.
